Ian’s areas of expertise embrace major and complex engineering losses, predominantly in power generation and distribution including thermal, cogeneration, renewables (biomass, wind, hydro, geothermal, solar, tidal etc.), nuclear and alternative for both operational and construction risks.

Ian is a mechanical and production engineer, and qualified loss adjuster with approaching 30 years’ loss management and claims handling experience, including more than 10 years in Asia.  He is also a recognized Specialist with the Institute of Risk Management.  Ian’s roles have included major loss recovery and project management, and handling, negotiation and settlement of major loss and catastrophe event claims Worldwide including Europe, Asia, Middle East and North America.

Ian’s power knowledge and experience encompasses all aspect of generation and distribution including rotating plant (power trains and generators) fuel storage and handling systems, boilers and furnaces through substations, transformers and distribution networks.  Losses involving such risks are commonly time critical with substantial BI, DSU and ALOP exposure; Ian’s engineering and industry knowledge, and recovery management experience allows for close working relationships with the plant owners/operators, OEMs and the wider power sector to support prompt identification and consideration of available remedial options, including both temporary mitigation measures and permanent solutions.
