
Matthew LeBrun
Matthew is a second-generation loss adjuster that entered the insurance industry immediately after graduating high school in 1987. While attending the University of Houston, he worked as a loss adjuster, physical damage appraiser and cargo surveyor. Matthew began working complex wind and flood related catastrophic losses after Hurricane Hugo made landfall in the Caribbean and South Carolina, US in 1989. Matthew was dispatched from South Carolina to St Croix, Puerto Rico, Culebra and Fajardo to handle marine, in-land marine, commercial property and power generation claims. The assignment involved managing experts retained by Insurers, contractors, Insured’s and Public Adjusters to address jurisdictional issues, perform coverage analysis, address mitigation options, restoration, business interruption and salvage recovery. Since 1989, Matthew has participated in 26 named storms, 2 typhoons, 2 earthquakes, 9 wildfires and multiple sabotage and terrorism events.
In 2004 Matthew co-founded and managed an insurance services company which focused on complex loss adjusting and catastrophe claims handling. Matthew joined the McLarens team in 2015 with the purpose to develop and manage a McLarens’ Natural Resources practice. In 2016 he was appointed Global Director of McLarens Natural Resources and in 2020 named Managing Director of Natural Resources, “The Americas”, with Lloyd Warwick International.
Over the course of his career, Matthew has held certifications and designations of Well Control – “IADC WellCap” – Surface and Subsea Stacks, VT/Visual Inspection – Level I and II NDT Examination, Mobile Crane & Rigging Inspector, Tower Crane Inspector, Marine Cargo Surveying, Confined Space Entry, GB-98 Commercial General Contractor.
